Reginald Ewin, 52, of Pegram, was charged late Monday night for the fatal shooting of Joshua Westmoreland, 40, on Brick Church Pike. At 6 p.m. officers located Westmoreland outside of the 7-Eleven with multiple gunshot wounds.
Westmoreland was transported to the hospital where he died.
Surveillance footage indicates the two men were engaged in a physical altercation prior to Ewin producing a pistol and firing at Westmoreland, even after he attempted to run from the gunfire.
Ewin fled the scene in his dump truck.
Shortly after the shooting, a hit and run occurred in the parking lot of a store on County Hospital Road involving a dump truck. The dump truck was quickly spotted by officers in the parking lot of Thortons on Charlotte Pike where Ewin was taken into custody.
Ewin is currently being held without bond.
