A 15-year-old now faces more than a dozen charges after he was arrested on South 5th Street in a stolen Kia Sportage through a coordinated effort between Violent Crimes and Hermitage Precinct detectives, along with East Precinct patrol officers. The teen is one of three juveniles involved in a recent string of thefts throughout the city.
The teen, who was already on probation at the time of his arrest for juvenile handgun possession and vehicle theft, fled when officers attempted to stop the Sportage. He and his female passenger were taken into custody running from the stolen car.
He was charged in Juvenile Court on 18 charges, including felony auto theft, evading arrest, felony probation violation and theft.
The 15-year-old has been identified in at least 13 tip jar thefts from Hermitage Precinct and is suspected of being involved in several others throughout Davidson County. The other two teens, ages 13 and 16, also have related charges.
The 16-year-old remains in juvenile custody from an unrelated vehicle theft incident. The 13-year-old has yet to be arrested.
