A 22-month investigation into the February 2021 fatal shooting of Nashvillian David Hernandez in the 900 block of Morrison Street has led to the indictment of two persons, Dimetrius Ford, 31, and his girlfriend, Carlissia Jones, 24, who are both charged with first-degree murder.
Ford is incarcerated in the Rutherford County where he is charged in the March 2021 murder of Carlos Vazquez. Jones was arrested on the indictment by deputy U.S. Marshals in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She will be returned to Nashville in the near future.
The investigation, led by Homicide Unit Detective Tyler Manivong, shows that Ford and Jones traveled to Nashville a few days prior to the homicide. Ford has family here; Jones is from Pennsylvania. Ford is alleged to have called Hernandez and given him instructions to drive to Morrison Street, where Hernandez was shot inside a vehicle. The motive is linked to the illegal drug trade.
