Friday’s 10:50 a.m. two-vehicle collision in the 200 block of Old Hickory Boulevard in Bellevue claimed the life of passenger Hennessy Espana, 26, of Nashville.
The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a southbound Audi sedan, George Lutz, 26, lost control of his car during a heavy downpour and traveled into oncoming lanes of traffic. The Audi was struck on the passenger side by a northbound Ford F-150 pickup truck. Espana, who was in the front passenger seat of the Audi, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died. Lutz, of Nashville, was also taken to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup had minor injuries and was not transported.
The preliminary contributing factor to this crash appears to be Lutz’ failure to maintain lane.
