Clarksville Pike/Dr. DB Todd Jr. Blvd Resurfacing Project Update November 17, 2023
Clarksville Pike/Dr. DB Todd Jr. Blvd will be closed Sunday, November 19 from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and Monday, November 20 from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. in order to complete paving in two days. The new paving strategy will avoid a ten day lane closure on Clarksville Pike/Dr. DB Todd Jr. Blvd. Detours will be in place.
To minimize confusion during road closures, the same detour route used on the previous two weekend closures will be used. The detour will utilize Buchanan Street and Ed Temple Blvd. Appropriate signage will be installed to Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards for guidance through the detour.
Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the closure as necessary.

Project Description
During the weekend closures, 4.5 inches of asphalt will be removed down to the original concrete roadway. Any failed areas will be repaired and the entire work area will have a leveling course of CS mix installed, then a Fiberglass Mat (Pavement Reinforcement) will be installed to reduce the amount of reflective cracking caused by paving over concrete. Approximately 2.5 inches of BM2 hot mix will be placed over the roadway and temporary striping will be installed. The surface will be down 1.5 inches from the existing surface, similar to typical milling projects.
After the two weekends of work are complete, utility castings will be raised back to final grade and signal loops reinstalled during the week from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This work will take one to two weeks.
The final surface will be installed during the day from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will take approximately one week. Temporary striping will be installed after each shift of paving. Final striping will be installed during the day over the next few weeks.
