Project Status
At the Thursday, July 18, 2024 community meeting the project team provided a clear picture of the Sadler Avenue project challenges and impacts to the community. The project partners, aided by HDR as the engineering consultant, provided detailed analysis on multiple bridge alignments. The project team is unable to find a feasible solution and the project cost estimate has exceeded the funding amount available. Therefore, the project is paused indefinitely.
The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) will meet with CSX to discuss the feedback and alternative options offered by the community and will continue to support exploring future funding opportunities.

Project Background
In partnership with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and CSX, the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) is moving forward on a project that will build a bridge in the Sadler Avenue Neighborhood to provide a grade separated crossing of the existing CSX railroad. Access to 43 homes in this neighborhood is limited to a single at-grade railroad crossing that is frequently blocked by trains that are being assembled in Radnor Rail Yards, located less than a mile to the south.
The project is being funded by monies from the Metro Davidson County Capital Spending Plan, CSX, and the Federal Highway Administration. TDOT will have the role of managing the project through the design and construction.
