Homicide detectives this morning charged Jeremiah Smith, 14, with criminal homicide for Friday night’s fatal shooting of Brenden Grady, also 14, during an attempted robbery outside 154 N. 6th Street.
The investigation shows that Smith, who was acquainted with Grady, was armed and was attempting to rob Grady of a pistol when he shot him. Smith fled the scene in a stolen Toyota Tundra pickup truck that was taken with the keys Thursday from Rebecca Street in East Nashville. The truck was recovered during the night from a parking garage on S. 5th Street.
Smith was arrested at his grandmother’s residence. He is being held at juvenile detention on charges of criminal homicide, vehicle theft, robbery and evidence tampering.
