In Nashville's first murder of 2025, Homicide Unit detectives continue to investigate the death of an apparent homeless man who was found Wednesday near the riverbank underneath the sidewalk/road of Gay Street at 1st Avenue. The Nashville Fire Department assisted in retrieving the body Wednesday evening.
The deceased, a white man who was evidently living in that immediate area, suffered blunt force trauma to his head. The date this occurred has not been determined. Two homeless men reported the discovery of the victim to an ambassador who works with the Nashville Downtown Partnership.
Work is underway to identify the victim through his fingerprints. Detectives are reviewing camera footage in the area.
