Specialized Investigations Division detectives this morning charged Thomas Battle, 16, with criminal homicide for the December 3 fatal shooting of Bryan Thompson, 34, outside a convenience market at 4160 Clarksville Pike. Thompson died from a gunshot wound to his head on Monday.
Battle, accompanied by his mother, came to police headquarters late Tuesday night to surrender.
The investigation, led by Detective Joshua Belk, shows that Battle drove to the convenience market in a stolen car, which belonged to Thompson’s brother. Thompson arrived at the market in his Jeep and parked next to the car. A verbal altercation between Battle and Thompson resulted in both individuals firing guns, resulting in Thompson’s non-survivable wound.
After Battle was interviewed, detectives conducted a consent search of his bedroom. A nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol loaded with 18 rounds was recovered from a shoebox. Battle is being held at juvenile detention.
