So far this year, 640 guns have been stolen from vehicles in Nashville, 17 were taken from autos just last week. The total number of guns stolen this year in Davidson County is 896, which means that 71% of guns stolen so far in 2024 have been taken from automobiles.
Last year at this same time, 900 guns had been stolen from vehicles, a 28% decrease so far this year (260 fewer guns).
MNPD’s special initiative to combat car theft and related crimes, begun on February 1, has resulted in 789 arrests and the recoveries of 408 stolen vehicles and 146 guns.

Just like guns taken from vehicles, these stolen autos are also routinely involved in criminal activities, including carjackings and robberies.
