Detectives this evening charged Donald Garrett Jr., 18, with attempted murder for Saturday morning’s shooting on Shoemaker Court that critically injured a 55-year-old resident.
Investigation by Violent Crimes Division and TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) detectives led to the identification of Garrett as a car burglar who opened fire on the victim after he stepped out of his doorway upon being alerted by a surveillance camera that covered his driveway. Garrett was taken into custody today at Johnson Alternative Learning Center and admitted to his involvement during an interview at police headquarters.
A judicial commissioner set Garrett’s bond at $500,000. The investigation continues.
