Chief John Drake today announced the promotions of 23 police department veterans to new supervisory positions effective Wednesday. Four lieutenants are being promoted to the rank of captain, seven sergeants are being promoted to the rank of lieutenant, and twelve officers are being promoted to the rank of sergeant.
“These men and women have a combined 210 years of law enforcement experience with this police department, and have demonstrated their continuing desire to be leaders in service to Nashville’s residents,” Chief Drake said.
Lieutenants being promoted to captain are:
- Blake Giles, an 11-year MNPD veteran who currently serves as a leader in the Domestic Violence Division. Giles will now be a Field Supervisor. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee and a Master’s Degree from Bellevue University.
- David Kautzman, a 17-year MNPD veteran who currently serves in the office of the Investigative Services Bureau deputy chief. Kautzman will now lead the Violent Crimes Division. He Holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana State University.
- Brandon Tennant, a 14-year MNPD veteran who currently serves as a leader in the Violent Crimes Division. Tennant will now be a Field Supervisor. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Oakland City University and a Master’s Degree from Cumberland University.
- Jessica Ware, an 11-year MNPD veteran who currently directs the Police Activities League. Ware will now lead the Mobile Field Precinct, the entity that takes certain non-emergency police reports via telephone. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Francis Marion University.
Sergeants being promoted to lieutenant are:
- Bradley Fort, a 7-year MNPD veteran who currently is a supervisor at the Madison Precinct. He will now lead the North Precinct’s overnight shift. Fort holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Kentucky University.
- Robert Goodwin, a 15-year MNPD veteran who currently is a supervisor at the East Precinct. He will now lead the Hermitage Precinct’s evening shift. Goodwin holds an Associate’s Degree from Nashville State Community College.
- Shelby Hughes, a 7-year MNPD veteran who currently is the Community Coordinator at the West Precinct. She will now lead the East Precinct’s evening shift. Hughes holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Vanderbilt University.
- Gary Peters, a 7-year MNPD veteran who currently coordinates special assignments in the Assistant Chief’s Office over the Community & Investigative Services Bureaus. His assignment is unchanged. Peters holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Grove City College and a Master’s Degree from Cumberland University.
- Harris Smith, an 11-year MNPD veteran who currently is a supervisor on the MDHA Task Force. He will now lead the North Precinct’s evening shift. Smith holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee State University.
- Ryan Storm, a 7-year MNPD veteran who currently is a supervisor at the Madison Precinct. Storm will now lead the South Precinct’s overnight shift. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Lindsey Wilson College.
- Emily Tatum, an 8-year MNPD veteran who currently is assigned to the Office of Professional Accountability. She will now lead the Midtown Hills Precinct’s overnight shift. Tatum holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Belmont University.
Officers being promoted to sergeant are:
- Phillip Box, an 8-year MNPD Veteran who currently is assigned to the Homicide Unit. He will now be a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s overnight shift. Box holds an Associate’s Degree from Bethel University.
- Michael Brooks, an 11-year MNPD veteran who currently is assigned to the Traffic Division. Brooks will now be a supervisor on the South Precinct’s evening shift.
- Nicholas Carroll, a 5-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Midtown Hills Precinct. He will now be a supervisor on the Madison Precinct’s evening shift.
- Arend Groeneweg, a 7-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Traffic Division. Groeneweg will not be a supervisor on the East Precinct’s day shift. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Grand Valley State University.
- Michael Hodges, a 5-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Madison Precinct. He will now be a supervisor on the East Precinct’s overnight shift. Hodges holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia Southern University.
- Wade Johnson, a 6-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned as a detective at the South Precinct. Johnson will now be a supervisor on the Madison Precinct’s evening shift. Johnson holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee Tech University.
- Terrance McBride, an 11-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned as a detective in the Domestic Violence Division. He will now be a supervisor on the MDHA Task Force. McBride holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee State University.
- Brent Morris, a 6-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Central Precinct. Morris will now be a supervisor on the South Precinct’s evening shift.
- Joel Rogers, a 14-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Training Academy. Rogers will now be a supervisor on the Midtown Hills Precinct’s day shift. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee.
- Justin Vaughn, a 7-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Specialized Investigations Division. He will now be a supervisor on the South Precinct’s overnight shift.
- Frederick Ware, an 8-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Midtown Hills Precinct. He will now be a supervisor on the West Precinct’s day shift.
- Chad Wilkinson, a 7-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Central Precinct. He will now be a supervisor on the North Precinct’s overnight shift. Wilkinson holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois State University.
