A convicted felon is back in jail after being arrested yesterday by Specialized Investigations Division detectives on outstanding warrants related to the March 8 shootout in the J.C. Napier community that injured a 40-year-old man. Jozmel Hugger, 44, allegedly began shooting at the victim following a verbal argument, in which the victim returned fire.
The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by private vehicle with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives located Hugger on Charles E. Davis Boulevard yesterday afternoon where he was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest.
He was convicted of aggravated robbery in 2004.
Hugger is charged with attempted criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and two counts of felony gun possession. He remains jailed on $710,000 bond.
