Update: Smith is in custody in Chattanooga where he is facing charges of criminal conspiracy and criminal impersonation. He will be returned to Nashville to face his charges here in the near future.
West Precinct detectives are asking the community to be on the lookout for convicted thief and burglar Tarice Lamont Smith, 49, who is now wanted on 44 arrest warrants charging him with 18 counts of identity theft, 18 counts of credit card fraud, 4 counts of burglary and 4 counts of theft.
Smith has been identified as the man who makes his way into non-public areas of various businesses, such as employee breakrooms, and steals wallets/credit cards from the purses of female employees enabling him to go on shopping sprees involving thousands of dollars in merchandise.
Smith was arrested earlier this month on 4 counts of credit card fraud, 1 count of burglary and 1 count of theft. He posted a $10,000 bond and was released.
