A known street racer was arrested following an April 20 street takeover gathering. Stephen Burns III, 25, of Hermitage, was charged with two counts of felony reckless endangerment, rioting, and evading arrest after he was identified by MNPD Traffic investigators as the driver responsible for dangerous stunts at multiple locations in South Nashville and Madison. As he fled police on April 20, he traveled 120-130 miles per hour on I-40.
Burns, who is now free on $22,000 bond, was taken into custody Friday outside his Hermitage Park Drive residence. He has been under investigation for months due to his strong connection to street racing.
Burns’ driving history shows that he has completed traffic school four times since 2017 and has three speeding violations.
The MNPD Traffic Division is committed to continuing its investigations into street racer groups that are causing damage and harm through their dangerous driving. There have been 43 arrests over the past year.
