Quick action by Central Precinct officers Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. resulted in the arrest of the driver of an Infiniti sedan who entered Broadway from 4th Avenue South at a high rate of speed and performed a dangerous burnout maneuver. Due to heavy vehicular traffic, officers on foot were able to order him to pull over to the side of the street.
Mark Gist, 51, exited the car and was unsteady on his feet. He had slurred speech and glassy watery eyes. Gist admitted to having consumed alcohol. An open bottle of whiskey was found inside the vehicle. Gist performed poorly on field sobriety tests. His driver’s license had been revoked.
Gist, of Nashville, is charged with DUI, reckless driving, and driving on a revoked license. He remains jailed on $4,000 bond.
