The man critically injured Friday after a food truck backed into him in the parking lot of 2819 Lebanon Pike has died from his injuries.
The preliminary investigation shows that Favian Ubense Cruz-Vargas, 48, was standing between the truck and the building directing the driver, Omar Martinez-Gonzalez, 42, to ensure that the truck did not strike the building. Due to apparent operator inexperience on the part of Martinez-Gonzalez, Cruz-Vargas became pinned between the truck and the building. He was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he died.
Martinez-Gonzalez was arrested and charged under the Ricky Otts Act for not having a valid driver’s license or proof of insurance.
