Outstanding work by Special Victims Detective Jonathan Sharp resulted in last night’s arrest of rape suspect Frank Cabrera, 41, of Hendersonville. Cabrera was identified, through investigative work and a private license plate reader, as the suspect allegedly responsible for the May 26 aggravated rape, burglary, and theft of a woman after meeting him at a bar on Elysian Fields Road.
The female victim reported bringing Cabrera back to her apartment complex common area when he entered her apartment without permission. He proceeded to grope and sexually assault her inside the apartment, only stopping after the victim choked him with a charging cable.
The victim locked the door behind him when he left her apartment, but video surveillance footage shows Cabrera forced entry back inside. He then proceeded to steal the victim’s purse with her car keys inside.
Her vehicle was stolen and later recovered at a gas station where Cabrera was seen on video surveillance fleeing to a nearby store.
Cabrera was taken into custody last night, through a coordinated effort between Hendersonville Police Department and Violent Crimes Detectives, at his home on Gatone Drive. He was booked on outstanding warrants for aggravated rape, sexual battery, aggravated burglary, vehicle theft and theft.
He is now jailed on $137,000 bond.
