A sex offender was arrested last night by Violent Crimes Division detectives after he was found in a stolen Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in a parking lot off Highway 70 South with a loaded gun. Dalonte Ball, 30, had rented the truck from Enterprise in February and did not return it.
When detectives observed it in the parking lot of a Home Depot, they discovered the driver, Ball, also had an outstanding felony sex offender registry violation warrant. Ball was convicted of deviate sexual assault in May 2016 in Missouri.
A loaded Glock 27 handgun was found inside the truck as well as an Illinois driver’s license with Ball’s photo on it, but another man’s name. He told detectives he made the fake ID online.
Ball, who was out on a $7,500 bond from a February 23rd arrest for three counts of sex offender registry violations, was booked in on his outstanding violation warrant as well as being a felon in possession of a handgun, vehicle theft and identity theft. He is now being held in lieu of $85,000 bond.
