A 16-year-old female is charged in Juvenile Court with three counts of aggravated assault against first responders, felony evading, and aggravated child endangerment stemming from an argument she had early Monday morning with the father of their 2-month-old baby which had escalated when he alleged she was kidnapping their child.
Officers responded to 5000 Linbar Drive just after 7 a.m. and encountered the teen driving a Honda Civic with the baby in the backseat. When officers attempted to discuss the incident with her, she refused to comply and drove to 97 Wallace Road. Three responding officers again tried to approach her at this location but she aggressively backed her car up, striking a police vehicle. As she drove off, a fourth responding officer activated his emergency equipment but she did not stop. The officer turned off his emergency equipment and followed from a safe distance so as not to further endanger the child.
The teen continued into Rutherford County, finally stopping at a traffic light at Waldron Road where, with the assistance of a LaVergne officer, she was taken into custody without further incident. The 2-month-old is with family members.
