A coordinated police response resulted in Friday's arrest of a 17-year-old serial vehicle theft/burglary suspect and the recovery of a stolen SUV, multiple credit cards, and a loaded handgun. He had just been found guilty in Nashville on March 11 for vehicle theft, evading arrest, and handgun possession.
After a patrol officer located the stolen 2019 black Mercedes Benz SUV, Violent Crimes and Auto Theft detectives attempted to stop the vehicle on 28th Avenue North and Clifton Avenue. The teen driver refused to stop, bailing from the SUV on Albion Street. A police helicopter pilot provided updates to ground units below who found the suspect attempting to hide under a shed. He was taken into custody without further incident.
A loaded handgun and a window punch were recovered from the teen's backpack. Multiple credit cards were recovered from the SUV which had been stolen on March 27 from a Mountainbrook Circle residence. The vehicle had been left with the keys inside.
The teen is suspected in multiple auto theft and burglary investigations in Nashville. He is also wanted in Rutherford and Williamson Counties on multiple warrants for similar offenses.
The teen is currently charged in Davidson County Juvenile Court with vehicle theft, evading arrest, juvenile handgun possession, and a probation violation.
