A 32-year-old woman was booked in this morning on an outstanding 2nd degree murder indictment after confessing last year to being the driver responsible for the September 2018 fatal hit and run crash that killed Markeith Bass, 34, on Trinity Lane near Brick Church Pike. Kara Vaughn, who has been incarcerated since 2022 on unrelated charges, confessed to a Davidson County Sheriff's Office Corporal in February 2023 that she ran over her ex-boyfriend, Bass, to clear her conscience.
Vaughn said she was intoxicated and driving a stolen maroon SUV when she was supposed to pick up Bass and instead, out of alleged anger, struck him with the vehicle.
