Homicide detectives are investigating Saturday’s 9:15 p.m. fatal shooting of Brandon Calloway, 23, inside his residence in the 3700 block of Brickmont Drive.
Officers arrived and found the victim’s girlfriend performing CPR. He had a single gunshot wound to the chest. Officers continued rendering aid until paramedics arrived and transported him to Skyline Medical Center where he died.
The victim’s girlfriend reported that she arrived home and did not have a key due to recently losing it. She parked and said that while waiting for Calloway to let her in, an unknown person appeared and fired a shot through the rear door.
She told detectives that she then fired one round from her gun toward the suspect who had fled toward a wood line. Her gun was recovered at the scene. A single bullet hole was observed passing through the rear doorway of the residence. Calloway appeared to have been standing behind the door when he was shot.
Anyone with information about Calloway’s murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
