A joint investigation between Metro Animal Care and Control and the MNPD led to today’s arrest of Nathan Haskins, 40, on a charge of felony aggravated animal cruelty for allegedly deliberately running over and killing a goose described as friendly and a mainstay at Sam’s Blue Turtle Bay Marina in Old Hickory on March 20.
An anonymous tipster to Nashville Crime Stoppers provided information that Haskins, while at a local bar, had acknowledged that he was the driver who ran over the goose. It was subsequently confirmed that Haskins owns a black Chrysler 300 sedan, the same make and model vehicle depicted in a video from the Marina on the night the goose was killed.
Haskins confirmed to Metro Animal Care and Control staff and an MNPD officer during telephone conversations last Friday and Monday of this week that he was the driver who ran over the animal.
A judicial commissioner set Haskins’ bond at $3,000.
