Quick response by West Precinct patrol officers to reports of vehicle break-ins at an apartment complex at 8200 McCrory Lane resulted in the arrest of three teens and the recovery of three guns, two of which had been reported stolen.
The witness gave an excellent suspect/vehicle description. Officers located vehicles that had been broken into and a short time later, spotted the suspect car, a silver Toyota. The driver, Abdalla Abdikadir, 19, fled. Officers successfully deployed spike strips at the exit from the complex. After a brief pursuit, the car pulled off the side of I-40 East. Abdikadir and a 16-year-old male passenger remained in the vehicle. A second passenger, Hussein Hassan, 18, fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. The three firearms were recovered from the Toyota. One of the guns was taken during a robbery on September 15. The victim reported that he had taken a nap in his car on 4th Avenue South when he was approached by three suspects wearing black masks who robbed him at gunpoint. The second gun was also reported stolen on September 15, taken from a vehicle parked outside a Thompson Lane residence.
Hassan is charged with eight counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of a stolen firearm, and evading arrest. He is being held in lieu of $92,000 bond.
