The Connect Downtown project has entered into the third phase of community outreach which will continue through April 2023. Feedback on the specific solutions is needed from everyone who lives, works, visits, and commutes to or through downtown Nashville. Priority solutions identified by the study include priority loading areas, transit priority corridors, mobility lanes, and traffic operations and congestion management strategies.
Connect Downtown is a project combining the efforts of The Nashville Department of Transportation & Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT), WeGo Public Transit, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), and the Nashville Downtown Partnership. The project is developing an ambitious yet realistic plan to fund and implement projects and programs that serve the growing mobility needs of downtown, the city, and the region.
More than 3,700 public comments and survey responses have been recorded since the project kick off last spring. From better crossings for people walking and rolling to more reliable bus service to dedicated space for people on bikes, Nashvillians are seeking a downtown transportation system that gives people more ways to travel. Improving loading and delivery zones and addressing traffic congestion at major pinch points were also identified as key needs.
Residents can provide input and comments on the three identified alternatives via a new “Story Map” linked to the Connect Downtown project page.
