Vision Zero Subcommittees

The subcommittees are integral components of the Vision Zero Advisory Committee. Each subcommittee focuses on a specific aspect of Vision Zero’s goals ensuring that efforts are coordinated and comprehensive.

To maintain consistent progress and foster communication among members, the subcommittees meet virtually on a monthly basis.

Fatal Crash Subcommittee

Chair: Hannah Sasscer

Date and time of meetings: Last Thursday of every month from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Virtual)

Role and goals: Review fatal crashes from the previous month, 6 months, year, and the committee's history. Identify patterns and areas of increased crashes and bring to the Vision Zero Advisory Committee's attention. Follow up with the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) on recommended engineering solutions.

Outreach Subcommittee

Chair: Landon Clark

Date and time of meetings: 3rd Thursday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Virtual)

Role and goals: Review upcoming events within the Vision Zero Advisory Committee, Metro Council, and organizations within the Nashville community. Provide monthly updates to VZAC regarding upcoming events.

Engineering and Planning

Chair: Ryan Renfro

Date and time of meetings: 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Virtual)

Role and goals: Collaborate directly with NDOT planners and engineers to provide feedback on completed, active, and proposed projects and programs. Promote Vision Zero traffic safety principles to raise the standard of NDOT engineering and planning efforts and assist in community engagement efforts in connection to specific NDOT projects.

Strategic Planning Subcommittee

Chair: Charlie Weingartner

Date and time of meetings: 3rd Tuesday of the month from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Virtual)

Role and goals: To identify meaningful ways that the Vision Zero Advisory Committee can be more influential and impactful with decision-making and planning, and to act upon strategies that improve Vision Zero initiatives.
