A recent inspection of the Great Circle Road Bridge in Metro Center indicated that some of the steel pilings were showing signs of advanced corrosion at the water line as compared to the previous inspection 2 years ago. The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) requested a structural analysis from their bridge engineering consultants who recommended that the bridge be closed until an additional underwater investigation can be performed. The investigation will determine the full extent of the damage and the appropriate repairs needed.
What to Expect
Preparations are currently being made to close the bridge and it is expected to be closed to traffic on Thursday, April 25 until further notice.
Access to all businesses will remain open.
A schedule for to re-open the bridge will be shared once the scope of repairs is determined in the coming weeks.
